Baba Siddiqui murder case: Bishnoi gang targeted him for close links with Salman Khan, Mumbai Police chargesheet says

The Mumbai Police have filed a 4590-page chargesheet in the Baba Siddiqui murder case. The police chargesheet says that the primary reason for the Bishnoi gang targeting the NCP leader was his close association with Bollywood star Salman Khan. The gang shifted their target following the increase in security around the actor following the shooting near his apartment in 2024, as per police.

The mastermind of the attack on Baba Siddqui and the man behind the threat on Salman Khan is Anmol, the younger brother of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi who is currently in jail. The Bishnoi gang wants to punish Salman Khan for the hunting and killing of a black buck in 1998, an animal the Bishnoi community reveres and raises as their own children.

The chargesheet rules out other claims and speculations behind the murder, such as property disputes and political rivalry. Disputes over the Slum Rehabilitation Authority projects have also been ruled out. However, the custodial death of Anuj Thapan, a person who was arrested after the shooting outside Salman Khan’s apartment, is seen as a trigger behind the gang’s decision to eliminate Baba Siddiqui, along with the alleged links with Dawood Ibrahim.
