Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has stated that the infiltration of illegal immigrants from Bangladesh is to be blamed on BSF, since they are the ones in charge of border areas like Islampur, Chopra, and Sitai. She insisted that her party Trinamool Congress is being blamed wrongly for the facilitation of illegal immigration through the eastern border.

“People are entering through BSF Islampur, through Sitai, through Chopra, we have news. Why are you not protesting? The border is in the hands of BSF. If anyone thinks that they are intruding into Bengal and maligning the Trinamool, let them be warned that the Trinamool Congress does not do these things. Don’t abuse Trinamool by supporting the wrongdoings of BSF”, she stated.
