The incident came to light after the victim’s mother filed a missing-person complaint for her daughter at the Chandra Layout Police Station. Acting on the mother’s complaint, the police started looking for the victim and eventually rescued her from the location where she was held captive.

The FIR reportedly stated that the 30-year-old victim, who works as a domestic helper, had taken a loan from two of the accused as she was facing some financial difficulties. About two years ago, the victim had borrowed ₹1 lakh from Reshma Banu and subsequently, ₹50,000 from Nazath on August 31, 2026. The victim said that she failed to pay the loan installments for the last few weeks.

As a result, Reshma started showing up at her house repeatedly, demanding the money. Fearing harassment over unpaid installments, she blocked Reshma’s mobile phone number and moved to a different location. According to the victim, Reshma even threatened her mother, saying that she had sent some men to look for the victim and they would throw acid on her the moment she is found.

Last month, on August 27, 2026, Nazrath called the victim to her house in Metro Layout on the pretext of offering her a job and money. The victim reached Nazrath’s house around 5.30 pm with her minor son. Soon, Reshma Banu, her husband Suhail, and Saif also arrived at the house, locked the door, and assaulted her.

As per reports, the accused demanded ₹11 lakh from the victim, including interest. They threatened her with a knife, snatched her mobile phone, and damaged it. In the evening, the accused forced the victim and her son into an autorickshaw and took them to Reshma’s house in Kumbalagodu.

The victim was reportedly beaten with a stick, abused, and wrongfully confined in a room. On August 29, 2026, the accused stripped her and recorded a video on a mobile phone. They threatened to circulate the video if she did not pay them the demanded money. The accused also threatened to force her into prostitution to recover the money. The victim’s son was let go by the accused the same day while they continued to hold her in captivity.

The nex day, the victim was taken to a lawyer by the accused, where she was made to sign some papers. On August 31, 2026, the police located the victim and rescued her. An FIR was lodged by the police against the accused the same day. The mobile phones of the accused were seized and sent for forensic examination to retrieve data.
