Both Wilson and Dhawale have been facing UAPA charges in the Elgaar Parishad case. The Pune Police had recovered an incriminating letter from the residence of Wilson, in which he had allegedly highlighted a plot to assassinate PM Modi in Rajiv Gandhi style.
Wilson, Dhawale and the others were arrested by the Pune Police in a nation-wide crackdown against ‘Urban Naxals’ in August-September 2018 under sections of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) and IPC in the Elgaar Parishad case, alleging that they were part of a larger conspiracy of the banned CPI-Maoist to overthrow the Indian government.
