CM Rekha Gupta inaugurates new school blocks, launches 101 ICT labs to boost digital learning in Delhi

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday, 10th February, inaugurated new academic blocks at the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) in Dilshad Garden and at Sarvodaya Vidyalaya in Mansarovar Garden. Alongside these new buildings, she also launched 101 modern ICT laboratories to boost digital learning in government schools across the capital.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister said the governmentโ€™s goal is not just to build new infrastructure but to provide students with access to the best educational facilities and the best technology in the world. The Chief Minister stated that over the past 355 days, the Education Department has achieved notable growth through the upgrade of school infrastructure, the development of over 100 computer labs, and the enhancement of digital facilities.

Cabinet Minister Ashish Sood, MLA Harish Khurana, and other dignitaries were present at the programme. The Chief Minister also expressed her gratitude towards the support given by the Ladli Foundation and the American India Foundation. She further added that change is possible only through the collaboration of society and the government. As part of CSR, there has been the creation of 101 computer facilities, more than 2,000 computers, and an infrastructure upgrade for digital facilities in government schools.

Focus on smart classrooms and value-based education

CM Gupta said the government aims to make Delhi the state with the highest number of smart classrooms, computer labs, language labs, and modern sports facilities. She added that, along with academics, special attention is being given to sports and proper nutrition for students.ย

She also announced that 75 CM Shri Schools will be inaugurated during the governmentโ€™s one-year tenure. These schools, she said, will set new standards of excellence in education. The โ€˜Neevโ€™ curriculum is also being introduced to promote values like ethics, civic responsibility, and patriotism among students.

New buildings and modern facilities

In Sarvoday Vidyalaya School, Mansarovar Garden, a new ground plus three-story building having 29 classrooms has been constructed according to modern educational requirements. Similarly, in DIET Dilshad Garden, a new building has been constructed on a ground plus three-story plan with a total of 19 classrooms having modern facilities.

Under the CSR partnership with the American India Foundation and Ladli Foundation, each of the 101 ICT labs is equipped with 20 computers and an Interactive Flat Panel Display. The teachers and students will also have access to digital skill-building and learning resources.
