Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) on Sunday (October 11, 2026) criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its national convenor Arvind Kejriwal for playing politics over an attempted protest inside Gurdwara Bangla Sahib and maligning the sanctity of the gurudwara. Speaking to the media, President of DSGMC Harmeet Singh Kalka said that yesterday (October 10, 2026) an attempt to stage a protest inside the Gurudwara was made by a group of protestors associated with the AAP.
Kalka condemned the incident and accused the AAP of hurting the sentiments of the Sikh community. “It is deeply distressing to see attempts being made to turn Gurudwara Bangla Sahib into a political arena. This is a sacred institution, a place where people come to offer prayers and seek relief from their suffering. Yet, protesters intruded and attempted to stage a demonstration there, deeply hurting Sikh sentiments,” Kalka said.
Today, I filed a formal complaint at the @DCPNewDelhi, against Arvind Kejriwal and his associates over the incident at Gurdwara Bangla Sahib and the circulation of misleading videos to malign Guru Ghar and its management #BanglaSahib #cjpprotest https://t.co/piYEpNLrEs

Kalka said that when the protesters entered the gurudwara, they were not carrying anything in their hands and were only carrying backpacks. Gradually, after a considerable number of them gathered inside the gurudwara, they took out posters and banners, staged a protest, and raised slogans.
He said that everyone, including protestors, is welcome inside the gurudwara, but they are not allowed to stage a protest inside. He added that the protestors did not care for the sanctity of the religious place and turned it into a protest ground. “One may offer prayers inside the Gurudwara, but protests are not permitted. If anyone wishes to protest, they should do so outside Parliament or in front of those against whom they are fighting,” he said.
Kalka further said that after the incident, AAP leaders circulated misleading videos claiming that police personnel entered the gurudwara wearing their uniforms and shoes. He clarified that the video was misleading as the police personnel did not enter the Darbar Sahib, the main prayer hall. They walked through a pathway inside the gurudwara which is open to the public and is ordinarily used by people to pass through.
The DSGMC President said that Arvind Kejriwal and his party leaders first sent protesters inside the gurudwara, violating the sanctity of the religious place, and then shared misleading videos linking the gurudwara with the illegal agitation and damaging its reputation. Kalka said that this was Kejriwal and his party’s attempt to use the incident to play politics in Punjab.
“The situation is being manipulated, and Aam Aadmi Party MLAs in Delhi, in particular, are attempting to play dirty politics over it. I want to warn them: this is a Gurudwara, not an arena for your politics. If you play such games here, Guru Sahib will never forgive you,” he said.
Kalka submitted a complaint to the Commissioner of Police, Delhi, to identify the protestors who staged a protest inside Gurudwara Bangla Saheb and take appropriate action against them.
