A shocking incident has come to light from Dwarka in Delhi, where a 60-year-old Muslim has been arrested for raping a minor Hindu girl. Police have stated that the accused and the girl’s family had known each other for many years, and the girl used to call him “uncle.”
According to police officials, the incident took place on Monday, 16th March, when the 6-year-old girl was playing near a school with her younger sister. The accused approached the girls and lured the girl to his halal meat shop by offering her something to eat. When she went into the shop, he shut the shutter of the shop and committed the crime.
The incident came to light when the child narrated the whole incident to her mother. On hearing this, the mother and another relative decided to confront the man. Soon after, the family reached the Chhawla police station and filed a complaint on the same day.
During the investigation, the police took the statement of the minor girl. She revealed that it was not the first time, and the Muslim man had done this before as well. A senior officer said the accused used to threaten to harm the girl and her mother, which was the reason she stayed silent before.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka), Kushal Pal Singh, stated that the police acted quickly as soon as the complaint was registered.
A medical examination of the child has been done, and a case has been registered under Section 65(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with rape of a girl below the age of 12, along with sections of the POCSO Act.
