The Election Commission of India (ECI) has updated the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in six States and Union Territories. This change comes after requests from the Chief Electoral Officers of Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and Uttar Pradesh. The revision uses 1st January 2026 as the qualifying date for voters.
Earlier, the period to add new voters, also called the Enumeration Period, in these six regions was set to end on 11th December 2025, with the draft electoral lists planned to be published on 16th December 2025. However, this timeline has now been revised to allow more time for eligible voters to register.

Meanwhile, in Goa, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, Rajasthan, and West Bengal, the Enumeration Period is ending today, 11th December 2025. The draft electoral rolls for these areas will still be published on 16th December 2025, as planned.
Kerala’s schedule was updated earlier, and its Enumeration Period will continue until 18th December, 2025. The draft electoral list for Kerala will be available on 23rd December, 2025.
To make sure that no eligible voter is left out, the Election Commission is urging new voters to fill out Form 6 along with a Declaration. This can be submitted directly to the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) or online through the ECINet App or the official website at https://voters.eci.gov.in/. The names of those who register now will be included in the final electoral rolls, which are scheduled for publication in February 2026.
