A 53-year-old French woman has been hospitalised with severe depression after she lost over 830,000 Euros to some scammers, believing she was ‘dating’ Hollywood actor Brad Pitt. As per reports, the woman was first contacted by a woman falsely using the name of Pitt’s mother, who convinced her that Angelina Jolie is not right for her son, but the French woman is.
Immediately afterwards, the woman was contacted by a man who claimed to be Brad Pitt himself, convincing her that he has been told by his mother that she would be the right woman for him. The French woman, identified as one Anne, was facing conflicts in her relationship with a millionaire entrepreneur, fell for the fake Brad Pitt, who apparently used a web of clever words, poems, and AI-generated photos, videos to convince her that he was the actual Pitt.
The scammer reportedly started sending her luxury items, claiming that she needed to pay customs duty for them. Eventually, the woman was told that since Pitt’s estranged wife Angelina Jolie has ‘frozen’ his bank accounts, she would have to help him with his ‘cancer treatment’. The fake Pitt even sent her AI-generated photos of Brad Pitt lying in hospital bed.
The woman, in her complaint to the French police, has stated that since Septemper 2023, she has paid over 830,000 Euros to the fake Brad Pitt, thinking the Hollywood superstar was actually in love with her.
It was only after she saw newspaper photos of the real Brad Pitt with his new girlfriend Innes de Ramon that the woman realised she has been scammed.
The woman has said that the fake Brad Pitt had a way with words, and “knew how to talk to a woman”.
