In Gopalganj town of Bihar, another incident of torture and deceit to carry out forced conversion has come to light. A Hindu woman had reported to the police that her boyfriend Tabrej, who had trapped her in a relationship using the false Hindu name of Sameer Sehgal, had been torturing her.
As per the woman’s complaint, Tabrej had introduced himself to him as a school administrator named Sameer Sahgal. He had promised her a higher education and a job and had brought her to Bengal. Tabrej reportedly raped the woman in Bengal and used explicit videos to continue to exploit her sexually through blackmail and threats. When the victim learned of Tabrej’s real name, she wanted to break up, but Tabrej forced her to stay in the relationship and even forced her to undergo abortion three times, the victim has narrated.
Tabrej had mentioned the woman’s name as ‘Alisa Khatoon’ a fake Muslim name, when he registered her for treatment in a hospital. Later, he brought her to a rented house in Gopalganj. In the rented house, Tabrej and his relatives allegedly started forcing the woman to convert to Islam.
The woman complained that she was locked in a room and starved for days when she refused to convert. On Friday, 13 December, she found an opportunity to sneak out of the house and run away. The woman managed to run away to a police station and narrated her ordeal.
