A 23-year-old woman in Koteshwar, Gandhinagar, Gujarat killed her husband barely a week after her wedding, reportedly because she was in love with her maternal cousin brother. As per reports, 24-year-old Bhavik Chunara married 23-year-old Payal Dantani on December 10.
Payal was in a relationship with her maternal cousin brother Kalpesh Chunara from the Kubadthal village. On December 13, Bhavik had left for Koteshwar, to bring his newly wedded wife Payal from her parents’ home. As per Bhavik’s father Kanhaiyalal Chunara, before leaving for Koteshwar, Bhavik had told his father that he thought Payal was not happy with the wedding and she had something else in her mind.
As per the complaint by the victim’s father, Bhavik never reached his in-law’s house in Koteshwar. After searching, Bhavik’s scooter was found abandoned near a temple in Kotwshwar and locals informed that the man was struck by a white Innova car and was taken away by 3 men.
Upon inquiry by Bhavik’s family members, Payal reportedly confessed that she was in love with her cousin and they had planned the murder together. Payal had informed her cousin-lover Kalpesh about the timings of Bhavik’s travelling. Bhavik’s body was recovered from the Narmada canal on Sunday, 15 December. Police have stated that prima facie, it appears that he was strangled to death and his body was thrown in the canal.
