Over 100 Class 10 students at Carmel School, Dhanbad, were reportedly forced to remove their shirts and sent home in blazers as punishment for celebrating “Pen Day” by writing messages on each other’s shirts. Principal M. Devashree allegedly claimed the act would harm the school’s reputation and ordered the removal to prevent students from leaving in “dirty” clothing.
Outraged parents, who filed complaints at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, said some students were forced to undress in front of male teachers. Over 100 girls went home without spare shirts, and mobile phones were confiscated to stop recordings. Parents described the incident as “mental harassment” and “humiliation.”
Deputy Commissioner Madhvi Mishra formed a five-member committee to investigate and promised swift action based on the findings. Several students are reportedly traumatized and reluctant to return to school.
