Karnataka govt study finds majority of voters trust EVMs, believe that elections are free and fair: BJP asks Rahul Gandhi, ‘what Vote Chori?’

In Karnataka, a study conducted by the state government has found that the majority of the voters believe that elections in India are conducted in a free and fair manner, and EVMs deliver accurate and trustworthy results.

The study was conducted across all four administrative divisions of the state.

The research titled “Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Evaluation of Endline Survey of Knowledge, Attitude and Practice (KAP) of Citizens”, was conducted by the Karnataka Monitoring and Evaluation Authority (KMEA).

Though the study was conducted in August 2025, the results were made public only recently.  As per reports, 83.61% of respondents said they believed EVMs were trustworthy. Overall, 69.39% of respondents agreed that EVMs provide accurate results, while 14.22% strongly agreed.

The survey covered 5100 citizens across 102 assembly constituencies of the major administrative divisions of Bengaluru, Mysuru, Kalaburagi and Belagavi.

In Kalaburagi, 83.24% respondents stated they find the EVMs accurate, followed by 70.67% in Mysuru, 63.90% in Belagavi and 63.67% in Bengaluru.

The BJP has called the study results a ‘resounding slap’ on the false campaign of ‘vote theft’ that the Congress and Rahul Gandhi have been trying to sell the people of the country for the last several years.

“To Mallikarjun Kharge, the Congress national president who nods his head to every word of Rahul Gandhi, and Priyank Kharge, who disrespects public opinion by blowing his own trumpet, the people have even taught a lesson in their home district of Kalaburagi,” BJP Karnataka has posted.
