The Karnataka High Court has granted bail to Kannada actor Darshan, his girlfriend Pavitra Gowda and other co-accused in the Renukaswamy murder case, where the actor and his associates where arrested for brutally abusing and killing a man over online comments.
Justice Vishwajith Shetty allowed the bail petitions today. Earlier this week, the court had reserved its verdict after hearing arguments from both sides.
Actor Darshan, his lover Pavitra Gowda, Anu Kumar, Lakshman M, V Vinay, Jagadeesh, Pradoosh S Rao and Nagaraju R had moved for bail in the High Court after their bail plea was rejected by the sessions court. Another accused Keshavamurthy has already been granted bail.
Actor Darshan was earlier granted interim bail over ‘medical issues’ to undergo surgery. Special Public Prosecutor Prasanna Kumar had opposed the bail plea, citing that there is strong prima facie evidence against the accused persons. “It is clear case of murder and not some case of simple assault or anything else.”
As reported earlier, actor Darshan has a history of violent assault and abuse.
