On 24th December (Wednesday), the Karnataka Lokayukta conducted raids on the premises of Sarfaraz Khan and his relatives and discovered assets valued at 14.38 crore. Khan serves as Housing and Minority Welfare Minister BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan’s personal secretary on official duty. He also works for the Directorate of Cooperative Societies as a senior officer. Notably, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is reported to have a tight relationship with Zameer Ahmed.

13 places throughout the state were simultaneously searched by a group of more than one hundred Lokayukta officers. Immovable properties valued at around 8.44 crore were found during the examination, including 37 acres of agricultural land and four opulent homes. Additionally, movable goods totalling 5.93 crore were confiscated, including jewellery estimated at about 2.99 crore, luxury cars priced at 1.64 crore, bank accounts and investments of 1.29 crore and 66,500 cash.

Lokayukta investigators are carefully reviewing the bank records and confiscated documents in order to provide a comprehensive understanding of Khan’s disproportionate holdings. Meanwhile, Zameer Ahmed claimed to be unaware of the development. He alleged, “Sarfaraz comes from a wealthy family. I do not know why the raid was conducted.”

On 23rd December, Lokayukta likewise raided 17 sites connected to four government officials who were accumulating assets out of proportion to their recognised sources of income and discovered riches estimated at 19.2 crore, according to officials. The raids occurred at their homes, workplaces and houses of relatives in the districts of Bagalkot, Vijayapura, Karwar and Raichur. 93 acres of land, jewellery worth 1.37 crore and other disproportionate assets were found by the authorities.
