Three people have been arrested after Rajouri Police exposed an Over Ground Worker (OGW) network connected to the Pakistan-based terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) that was active in the Pir Panjal area. The arrested accused are Mohd Azam, son of Ali Bahadur, who is a resident of Kotcharwal Teryath; Mohd Mushtaq, son of Mohd Iqbal, from Udhan; and Zakir Hussain, son of Ghulam Hussain, a native of Kotcharwal Teryath. All three are from Rajouri.
“The investigation has revealed that the three accused allegedly acted as guides and facilitated the movement of terrorist groups towards Kashmir,” a police spokesperson informed. The trio is also suspected of providing safe transportation, logistical support and other ground assistance to terrorists connected to several high-profile attacks, including one that targeted civilians.
The official highlighted, “During the course of the investigation, an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) was recovered on the disclosure of one of the accused. The preliminary findings indicate that the device had allegedly been handed over to the accused by members of a terrorist group for safe custody and its possible use in a targeted attack.”
According to the authorities, the IED’s recovery and the arrests have produced vital leads for more investigations into the terror network active in the region. The entire network of support for terrorist activity in the area is being dismantled by Rajouri Police. Finding more associates, uncovering the entire network, and determining the number of accused involved are the main goals of the inquiry. The authorities stated that more information is anticipated as the inquiry moves on.
