Pakistan-sponsored Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists have been training in a maritime environment, posing as tourists. The disclosure was made by sources while talking to NDTV. It has been revealed that terrorists are receiving training in combat swimming, scuba diving, and other underwater skills only 50 kilometres from Karachi, on Charna Island.
The numerous diving sites in this scenic location make it a popular tourist destination. The terrorists belong to the “Dawa Marine Wing” or “Sada-e-Hurriyat” of LeT, based on intelligence services.
The terror group had previously been seen practising at the Mangla Dam in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) and even in strange swimming pools constructed at terror launchpads, which were also destroyed by India with cruise missiles and precision bombs in multiple operations such as “Operation Sindoor” in the past few years.
According to sources who spoke with the media house, these jihadis receiving training for maritime missions on the island close to Karachi are portrayed as tourists who have come for recreational activities like scuba diving. The trainers belong to the Pakistani Markazi Muslim League (PMML), which is also an offshoot of LeT.
According to intelligence reports, the latter has been making a lot of effort to adjust to working in a maritime setting. The LeT terrorists who carried out the 26/11 Mumbai bombings arrived in the city by sea route. The insiders unveiled to NDTV that the outfit has maintained a modest maritime group since 2008 but is currently aggressively attempting to launch larger-scale marine strikes. However, Indian security officials are fully informed about the situation and are attempting to address any threat that might arise through the marine route.
Meanwhile, on 6th November (Friday), a LeT module was found to be recruiting and radicalising youth via social media, after which Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) conducted raids at six locations in Jammu and Kashmir. They searched a village in Pulwama as well as multiple spots in Budgam, Srinagar, Bijbehara, and Mattan in Anantnag.
According to sources, documents and digital devices that could be used as evidence were uncovered during the action. The home of a 22-year-old graduate named Mohammad Yaseen Mir was also searched. His mother is a Pakistani national named Tabasum Shaheen who departed on 29th April of last year and hasn’t been back since.
It was unclear if she was refused a visa or if she decided not to return on her own. According to investigators, she continued to communicate with her son, which is also under inquiry. An official informed that the investigation was started in response to reports that people in Pakistan were using social media platforms to entice young Kashmiris and incite them against India’s integrity and sovereignty in collusion with LeT handlers and similar groups.
