Madhya Pradesh: Sameer rapes a Hindu minor girl for years, forcing abortions and pressuring her to convert to Islam, booked under POCSO and the anti-conversion law

A shocking case of rape and forced religious conversion has come to light in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh. Sameer, also known as Marble, has been charged with raping an underage Hindu girl, who is the sister of his friend. He even forced her to undergo two abortions. He also pressured her into embracing Islam and marrying him. The police have filed a case against the accused, and an investigation is currently in progress.

He is a resident of Ram Rahim Nagar, and his father’s name is Shahzad. Sameer has a prior criminal record. The victim revealed that when she was 16 years old, he exploited his friendship with her brother to lure her to his residence in January 2023. He threatened her with a knife and sexually violated her. When she became pregnant for the first time, the perpetrator made her take abortion pills and intimidated her with a knife, declaring, “If you inform anyone, I will kill both you and your brother.”

Sameer continued to physically and psychologically torment the young woman. She became pregnant for the second time, and he took her to a secret location, pushed her to become Muslim and wed her. Afterwards, he confined her in his house and barred her from seeing her family. She gave birth, and he continuously assaulted, verbally abused and threatened her.

The girl disclosed that Sameer warned her that if she provoked him too much, he would kill her and dispose of her body. On 8th June, he attacked her, leaving visible injuries on her cheek and neck. She later returned to the house of her parents. He threw stones at their place. On 10th June, he tried to snatch the child at Court Chauraha, but locals intervened and rescued the baby.

He also issued threats to the victim’s brother via phone, vowing to kill him with a knife. In the aftermath of these troubling events, the affected family went to the Deendayal Nagar police station to lodge a complaint. A First Information Report (FIR) has been submitted by the police under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act due to the girl being a minor at the time of the first assault.

Furthermore, charges have been brought under several sections, including rape, criminal intimidation and the Madhya Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act, which pertains to forced religious conversion. Sameer is presently evading arrest. The police are actively searching for him. The matter is under probe.
