Maha Kumbh 2025: Over 1.6 crore devotees take a holy dip at the Sangam as the 45-day sacred congregation kicks start in Prayagraj

In the biggest congregation of humanity on Earth, over 1.6 crore devotees took the holy dip at the Prayagraj Sangam on Monday (January 13) during the Maha Kumbh 2025.

As per reports, by 4 PM, over 1 crore and 60 lakh devotees had taken a dip on the occasion of Paush Purnima, the first bathing festival of Maha Kumbh 2025.

The Kumbh celebrations, renowned for their grandeur and vibrant spirit, take place every four years and are considered among the most significant events. However, this year’s Kumbh celebrations are considered even more significant as it signifies the culmination of 12 Kumbh Mela cycles, taking place once every 144 years.

As per Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh, the Maha Kumbh that will be observed from January 13 to February 26 will witness 35 crore pilgrims visiting the holy Sangam – the confluence of rivers Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati.
