Malayalam film and television actor Dileep Shankar was found dead in a hotel room in Thiruvananthapuram under mysterious circumstances. He was 47 years old.
As per reports, Dileep Shankar had checked into the hotel two days ago but he remained in the room for two days, and had not stepped out. Hotel staff discovered the actor’s lifeless body after they decided to investigate a foul smell emanating from the room. They opened the door after he failed to respond to multiple calls and knocks on his door, and found him lying inside.
Authorities were immediately notified, and the local police reached the scene to initiate an investigation.
Police sources stated that the exact cause of death is yet to be determined, and the body has been sent for post-mortem examination. As per preliminary probe, there are no visible signs of foul play, but investigations have been launched to ascertain the exact cause of the death.
Ernakulam resident Dileep Shankar had arrived in Thiruvananthapuram for shooting of a TV serial titled Panchagni. As there was a two-day break in the shooting, he decided to stay in the hotel. But after he checked in, he never came out of the room.
Serial director Manoj said that the crew tried to contact him several times during this time, but Dileep didn’t answer to the phone calls. Concerned co-stars arrived the hotel on Sunday morning, by when the hotel staff had already decided to open the room.
Reportedly, Dileep Shankar was suffering from some health issues.
