Dhankhar had earlier headed the Asia operations of Indian IT company Tech Mahindra and was working with a Vietnam-based company at present.
Surajkund Station House Officer (SHO) Prahlad Kumar told reporters, “Paramjit Dhankhar lived on the first floor of house number 641 with his wife, son and daughter. He worked with a major company and had been residing in Singapore for work. He had returned to Faridabad just two days ago to attend his nephew’s wedding, scheduled for November 24. He originally belonged to Hisar.”
Describing the incident, the SHO said, “He had returned home from a gym around 8 pm, when a parking dispute broke out with Mohan alias Monu Sharma, who lives on the third floor of the same building. As the argument escalated, Monu opened fire on him.”
Police said the two families had been involved in disagreements over the past few days. Investigators found that Sharma’s son regularly took his pet dog to the parking area, which Dhankhar’s son, Surya, had objected to. The families had argued over the issue four to five days before the shooting. Sharma had also abused Surya during an earlier dispute.
After receiving information about the shooting, police, Crime Branch personnel and a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team reached the spot. Several empty cartridge cases were recovered from the scene.
Police have formed multiple teams to trace and arrest Sharma. Dhankhar’s body has been sent to ESIC Medical College for a post-mortem examination. Investigators are also examining the earlier disputes between the families and the circumstances that led to the shooting.
