In Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, the Police have arrested a Muslim man for posting insulting comments about Hindu deities on social media, as part of an ongoing drive to curb the misuse of online platforms.

The accused, Raza Chaudhary, son of Jumma Ali, is a resident of Sambhal district. According to the police, he shared offensive remarks about Hindu deities through an Instagram account named “razarostar295” on Instagram. The posts soon came to the notice of local Hindu groups and created anger among people.
Avtar Rana, who is the district publicity chief of the Hindu Parishad, submitted a written complaint at Dilari police station on 12th January. In his complaint, he stated that the posts had hurt religious sentiments and disturbed social harmony in the area.
Acting swiftly on the complaint, the police registered the case and took Raza Chaudhary into custody. He was arrested under sections 170, 126, and 135 of the IPC. Police officials said the action was taken without delay to prevent further tension and to send a clear message against the misuse of social media for spreading hate.
The police have also said that strict monitoring of social media platforms is being carried out, and anyone found posting content that hurts religious feelings or threatens peace will face immediate action.
