The Noida police have arrested 4 members of a gang that used to lure gay men through the Grindr App with the promise of gay sex, only to loot and blackmail them. As per reports, the names of the arrested persons are Sunny, Karan Kumar, Rajat and Tushar. They are all aged between 20-22 years.

The gang used to make fake IDs in the Grindr App, approach gay men who are still in the closet and lure them with the promise of sex. When the men showed up, they used to secretly film the sexual acts and used the clips to blackmail them, threatening to reveal their true identities to their family and relatives.
The arrests were made by Phase 3 police station in Noida. In a presser, DCP Centra Noida informed that as of now, the police have information about at least 6 victims who have been looted by this gang.
Police have seized cash and identity documents of a victim from these criminals. Recently, they had blackmailed a man named Akki and looted over 30,000 rupees from him.
DCP Shakti Mohan Awasthi has revealed that the gang members used to always make ‘premium membership’ accounts on the Grindr App, so that it is easy to trap victims because people usually think a premium membership means verified, trustworthy individuals.
