Places of Worship Act is a crime against democracy: Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev

Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev of the Isha Foundation has stated that the Places of Worship Act is a crime against democracy and it needs to be changed.

Speaking to Navika Kumar of Times Now, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, who is currently in Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh, told that denying citizens the right to seek legal recourse for their problems is against the fundamental principles of democracy.

“When you tell a citizen of the nation that he or she cannot go to court and find legal recourse for some problem that they have, that is against the fundamental ethos of a democracy.”

Speaking to Navika Kumar, Sadhguru said, “I understand if they tell that we cannot start a war on the streets. I understand when they tell that we cannot claim ownership of a place of worship, even though we know there is a temple underneath. I get it. But telling citizens that they cannot even go to court for seeking legal remedies for an issue? Where is democracy then? It is a different matter if we fail to prove our claim in court. But how can the right to go to court be denied? What kind of law is that?”
