The Supreme Court has ordered to halt the registration of new petitions regarding the Places of Worship Act anywhere in India for now. The apex court has stated that till it finishes hearing and disposes of all the current petitions pending before it regarding the law, no new suits should be registered anywhere in the country.

The Supreme Court has also issued a 4-week time to the government of India to file its affidavit on the pleas challenging the Places of Worship Act.
Additionally, the Supreme Court has also prohibited all trial courts from passing effective interim or final orders, including survey orders, in pending suits against masjids/dargahs etc.
