The special cell of the Delhi Police has arrested a man named Imran Sheikh from Bhubaneswar in connection to a case where a group of men were in contact with radical elements. Sheikh was taken in transit remand by the Delhi Police on Saturday, 11 April.
Sheikh Imran, aged around 22 years, was arrested from his rented house in Unit-6 area of Odisha’s capital.

Bhubaneswar Police has stated that Sheikh Imran was in active contact through social media accounts in WhatsApp and Signal with a closed radical group. The group was being traced by the Delhi Police for some time. Last week , some other members were arrested in Delhi.
The group was reportedly sharing anti-India content, and material, displaying radicalised behaviour, as per the police.
Sheikh Imran was produced before the Sub Divisional judicial magistrate in Bhubaneswar for transit remand and was taken to Delhi by the Delhi Police.
Imran’s father has stated to the media that his son developed a mobile phone addiction and became friends with unknown persons through mobile games. He added that Imran used to be good at studies, but his phone addiction spoiled his habits and wrecked his career. “Delhi Police had contacted me. They said they want to interrogate my son. I said ok to them”, he added.
