A violent incident in Raipur on Monday evening, 16th March, that created a sense of panic in the area of the Maudhapara police station after two youths were stabbed with knives by their rivals in an old rivalry dispute. The incident occurred near the BTS Chowk in the Talab Para area around 5 pm.
Initially, the accused stabbed two youths, identified as Mohammad Altaf and Rashid Ali, with knives. Both of them were injured in the incident, following which they were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, where their condition is said to be stable.
As soon as the police received information about the incident, the police team from the Maudhapara police station immediately reached the spot and brought the situation under control. The police have registered a case of attempt to murder and rioting, and the police have arrested the four accused, namely Ravi Raxel, Harsh, Lokesh Raxel, and Abhay Raxel, while efforts are on to arrest the people involved in the incident.
Stone pelting and rising tension
Soon after the incident, tensions escalated in the area as some people from the Muslim community resorted to stone-pelting on the Marhi Mata temple in Raipur. At the same time, members of the other group waved swords, further escalating the situation and creating fear among locals. Bajrang Dal activists surrounded the Maudahapara police station and said that if no action is taken against the accused involved in the attack, they would avenge it by pelting stones at a mosque.
Police have registered separate cases against both groups for their involvement in the violence. Keeping the situation in mind, a heavy police force has been deployed in the locality to prevent any further unrest. Senior officials are closely monitoring the situation.
