Chetna, a three-year-old girl, who fell into a borewell in Rajasthan’s Kotputli 10 days ago has finally been rescued after more than five unsuccessful attempts.
The girl had gotten trapped in a 700-foot-deep borewell on December 23 while playing. The incident occurred in Badiyali ki Dhani of Kiratpura village. Her family discovered she was stuck after hearing her cries about 10 minutes later.
Rescue efforts began promptly, with the national and state Disaster Relief Forces, along with a medical team, arriving on the scene. Oxygen was supplied to the child through a pipe, but initial attempts to pull her out failed. Subsequently, rescue teams began digging a tunnel, but their efforts were hindered as the tunnel was misaligned due to the borewell’s tilt.
Over the past few hours, the girl’s condition became critical as neither oxygen nor food could be delivered. The rescue operation was completed just in time.
Chetna was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors confirmed her condition is stable but will require ongoing monitoring.
