One of the accused, Ali Akbar alias Babu, who hails from the Longia locality in Ajmer, was the key operative of the terror network in India. Akbar told the agencies that he conducted reconnaissance of key locations across Rajasthan, Delhi, and Punjab at the behest of Shehzad Bhatti. He also recorded videos of these locations and sent them to Pakistan through WhatsApp to finalise the location of the blast.
The terror conspirators considered various locations for carrying out the blast, including Shree Mata Balasundari Devi Mandir, Mullana, the house of a politician in Ambala, different police stations in Punjab and Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital and Nizamuddin Railway station. Finally, Shehzad Bhatti selected three locations in Ambala, out of which one was to be finalised for the explosion. The accused said that on Friday morning (March 13, 2026), Bhatti instructed them to plant the explosive in the Ambala cantonment area. As the accused were carrying the explosives to the selected location of the blast, they were caught on the way by the STF officials, who had intelligence about their movement. A Bomb Disposal Squad neutralised the explosive kept in a tiffin bomb.
Since the agencies have not been able to locate the RDX, which could not reach the accused in Hanumangarhi, they have urged the citizens to be watchful and report to the authorities in case they spot any suspicious object anywhere.
