Samajwadi Party MP from Kairana, Iqra Hasan has denied the rumours of her marriage with Congress Rajya Sabha MP Imran Pratapgarhi. While talking about various issues in Shalini Kapoor Tiwari’s podcast, she clarified this rumour after the 37-minute 47-second mark.
Iqra clearly said that there is no plan of Nikaah between her and Imran Pratapgarhi. She said, “There is no truth in these things. It is very wrong to spread such things about any girl. I feel very sad to see this. Stop making such videos. It hurts me and my family a lot.”
Imran Pratapgarhi is a Congress leader who has made several provocative statements in the past. In one such statement, he had said that Muslims should kill 4-6 people before they die. “It is not acceptable to die in a cowardly manner. To avenge lynching, kill at least 4 to 6 people before you die”, he had said. He is also known to provoke Muslims regularly. Full details can be read here.
In this podcast, Iqra was also heard defending the practice of Triple Talaq and said that the criminalisation of the draconian Islamic practice has led to divorce being made more difficult. This leads to Muslim men abandoning their wives. She said that Triple Talaq was a civil matter and it should not have been criminalised. She further said that the intention of criminalisation of Triple Talaq was to jail Muslim men.
