In a bizarre development, it has come to light that the Royal Navy of the United Kingdom mistook a ‘farting whale’ for Russian drones.
According to a report by The Sun, the marine animal sparked fears of a Russian attack on the UK’s nuclear submarines. The Royal Navy thought that Russia dropped a listening device onto the seabed in North-West Scotland between the Isle of Raasay and Applecross
Two sounds were intercepted by the Navy senors within a span of a few days. It was believed that Russia deployed its deep-sea research unit GUGI to track the UK’s nuclear submarines.
However, fears were mitigated when a Navy official confirmed, “We have been analysing the sounds and now believe it was a marine mammal. A whale.” Reportedly, it is a common occurrence to mistake ‘whale trumps’ for ‘enemy subs’.
