An objectionable presentation of Bajrangbali on the stage of a madrasa in Uttar Pradesh has triggered controversy after a video from the event spread widely on social media. The incident took place on 13th April during the annual function of Madrasa HK Public School, in Kakrala town.
Video goes viral, objections raised
In the viral clip, students performing on stage were seen portraying characters from the Ramayana. One student dressed as Lord Hanuman presented a skit linking the storyline to a gas cylinder issue. During the act, dialogues were delivered where the character asked God for a gas cylinder, offered incense sticks and prasad, and then asked for them back.
"If you can't get a gas cylinder, what's the use of Hanuman?" – dialogues in a school play in Badaun, UP.

The performance also included remarks where Bajrangbali was shown in a derogatory way, including being compared to a clerk in the District Magistrate’s office.
Many locals said some of the dialogue used on stage had offensive language, which created discomfort among viewers. As the video spread online, several Hindu organisations objected strongly, saying that such content hurt religious sentiments and should not be allowed, especially in an educational institution.
Complaint filed, investigation underway
Following the outrage, activists from groups like Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal reached the Alapur police station. Leaders, including Vinay Pratap Singh, Satyendra Yadav, Utkarsh Mishra, Mor Singh, Akash Kushwaha, Mukesh Kushwaha, Rahul Trivedi, and Ajay Pandit, submitted a complaint against the madrasa management.
They demanded strict action and said disrespect towards Hindu deities in schools would not be tolerated. The complaint also named madrasa operator Rashid Khan.
Police have started an investigation into the matter. Crime Inspector Ramnath Kannaujiya said that a report has been sought from the local outpost, after which further action will be decided.
Officials from the education department have also taken note. Basic Shiksha Adhikari Virendra Kumar Singh confirmed that the matter is being looked into and said action will be taken based on the investigation of the inquiry.
Some members of the protesting groups also raised additional concerns about the madrasa, claiming that students are being taught general knowledge related to Pakistan and questioning the intent behind it. They further claimed that the madrasa building stands on occupied land and called for a detailed investigation into these aspects as well.
The administration is keeping a close watch on the situation as the issue continues to draw attention.
