In what is regarded as a terror attack, at least 10 people lost their lives, and 30 others were injured Wednesday night when a truck ploughed into a crowd on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, city officials confirmed.
After the high-speed collision, the driver exited the vehicle and opened fire, prompting police to respond with gunfire, according to CBS News and eyewitness accounts. The injured were transported to five different local hospitals for treatment.

The BBC also noted that several videos of the incident, showing numerous casualties on the ground, have been shared widely on social media.

NOLA Ready, the city’s emergency preparedness campaign, issued a social media alert, stating, “A mass casualty incident has occurred on Canal and Bourbon Street. Please avoid the area.”
