US President Donald Trump releases first image of White House shooter after failed assassination attempt, accused identified as Cole Tomas Allen

On Sunday, 26th April, US President Donald Trump released the first images of the man taken into custody after a shooting scare disrupted the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, DC. The visuals, shared on social media, showed the suspect moments after he was stopped by security personnel.

Chaos outside the venue, suspect caught

The incident took place outside the ballroom where Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, and several senior officials were present for the annual dinner. According to authorities, the suspect managed to run through a security checkpoint before being caught. A video clip posted by Trump appeared to show the man moving quickly through the area before being overpowered.

Law enforcement officials identified the suspect as Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old from Torrance, California. Trump said the man was carrying “multiple weapons” at the time of the incident.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) later confirmed that the suspect is now in custody and that its Washington field office is leading the investigation into what exactly happened. Officials also said that there were no immediate reports of injuries.

Trump reacts, and the event is called off

Hours after the incident, Trump addressed the media and described the attacker as a “lone wolf” and a “whack job.” Calling the situation “unexpected,” he said he had initially wanted to continue with the dinner and had “fought like hell to stay,” but the event was ultimately cancelled due to security concerns.

Trump also made a broader remark, saying this was “not the first time a Republican has been attacked,” and suggested that high-profile figures are often targeted. “The people who make the biggest impact are the ones they go after,” he added.

The president and the first lady were safely evacuated along with other guests. The White House later confirmed that the dinner will be rescheduled within the next 30 days.
