A suspected assassination attempt on Donald Trump created panic during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, DC, after a man with multiple weapons tried to breach a security checkpoint, and shots were fired.

The incident happened at the Washington Hilton on Connecticut Avenue, where the high-profile event was underway. As soon as the situation unfolded, security personnel quickly moved Trump off the stage. Officials later confirmed that Trump and all Cabinet members present were safe.
Authorities said the suspect, a 31-year-old man from California, has been taken into custody. According to law enforcement officials who spoke to CNN, the man is expected to face serious charges.
Jeanine Pirro, the US Attorney for the District of Columbia, stated that the accused will be charged with using a firearm during a crime of violence and for assaulting a federal officer with a dangerous weapon.
The investigation is going on as security agencies review how the suspect managed to approach the checkpoint despite tight arrangements at the venue.
