In the USA, an Indian-origin man from Missouri has been sentenced to 8 years in jail for crashing his vehicle outside the barricading of the White House and waving a Nazi flag in May 2023. Sai Varsith Kundala, who was 19 years old then, had driven his rented truck from St Louis to Washington DC and on May 22, 2023 and crashed the truck on the outer barricading of the White House.
After exiting the vehicle, he had pulled out a Nazi flag from his backpack before lying down to surrender. In the interrogation after the arrest, he stated that he wanted to “overthrow the US government and replace it with a dictatorship similar to Nazi Germany.”
He had also added that he wanted to kill Joe Biden.
The prosecutors in the case wrote that while Kandula’s crime looked unsophisticated and was unlikely to cause any threat to the security at the White House, in the event of the assassination attempt on Donald Trump during his campaign, any breach in Presidential security has to be taken seriously because, even though some individual may lack the resources to carry out their plans now, they may acquire them in the future.
