Uttar Pradesh: Hindus catch Gada Khan cooking meat inside Durga temple on Bakrid, police arrest accused

In Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut, an outrage erupted after a Muslim man caught cooking meat inside the Durga Temple premises on Bakrid (28th May). The Muslim accused has been identified as Gada Khan, a resident of Rajasthan.

Upon receiving information, Narsingh Vahini activists, along with Kartik workers, arrived at the scene and staged a protest. The Nauchandi police station arrived at the temple premises and recovered meat. The police have taken the accused Gada Khan into custody.

The police action came on a complaint from a swing contractor, Lalit Sharma. City Superintendent of Police Vinayak Gopal Bhosale stated that the Nauchandi fair features a Durga temple. Several swings are also installed within the temple premises, including one set up by accused Gada Khan. On Thursday, someone informed a Narsingh Vahini activist about the slaughter of a goat in the temple premises.

Amid the protest by Hindu activists, CO Civil Lines Suchita Singh and Nodal Officer Inspector Jitendra Singh arrived with police force to pacify the protestors and assured necessary action. The accused will be presented before the court on 29th May.
