Amid rising concerns of fuel shortage in the state, the Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh assured that the fuel supply in the state is normal and there is no shortage of any kind. The government urged people not to be misled by rumours and not to engage in unnecessary fuel hoarding.
The state government also launched a massive crackdown on fuel hoarding and black-marketing of fuel in the state. A total of 23,250 raids and inspections have been conducted across the state since March 12, 2026, resulting in the filing of 238 FIRs. Out of these FIRs, 27 were lodged against LPG distributors and the remaining 211 against other accused persons. 22 people were arrested by the police on the spot during the raids, and legal proceedings have been initiated against 249 individuals.
The state reportedly has an adequate stock of 92,000 kilolitres of petrol and 1.22 lakh kilolitres of diesel. Thousands of litres of fuel are being sold across the state through 12,888 operational petrol pumps. The government is ensuring an uninterrupted LPG supply across the state by timely delivery of LPG cylinders through 4,107 gas agencies. Additionally, the government is working towards expanding the City Gas Distribution network to provide PNG connections to domestic consumers, in compliance with the central government directives. Apart from that, 15.94 lakh PNG connections have been issued in the state.
To cater to the industrial and commercial requirements in the state, the government has permitted the conditional supply of up to 70% of commercial LPG. For the supply of commercial LPG, hotels, dhabas, restaurants, dairies, food processing units, and labour-intensive industries such as the steel, automobile and textile sectors are being prioritised.
The Uttar Pradesh government has set up 24-hour control rooms at the Food Commissioner’s office and in all districts for monitoring the situation. State officials have been instructed to conduct regular field inspections to make sure the people do not face any inconvenience.
