The Delhi Police have arrested YouTuber Salim Wastik in connection with a 31-year-old kidnapping and murder case. The YouTuber, who identified as ‘Ex-Muslim’ was recently stabbed brutally at his house in Ghaziabad by two persons. He was under treatment in the hospital and was under police protection due to a threat on his life.
The Delhi Police have informed that Salim Wastik was convicted for a serious crime in 1997.

Sandeep Bansal, the 13-year-old son of a Northeast Delhi businessman, was kidnapped and later killed in 1995. In 1997, the court sentenced Salim Khan and his accomplice Anil to life imprisonment. After being granted interim bail by the Delhi High Court in 2000, Salim absconded and never returned. Investigations confirmed this using old records, fingerprints, and photographs.
As per reports, Salim had lived under different names and aliases in Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut and Ghaziabad over the years. A team of Inspector Robin Tyagi and ACP Sanjay Kumar Nagpal, along with another policeman Mintu Yadav, was tasked with tracing long-term fugitive offenders and parole jumpers. They finally managed to confirm that Salim Wastik, who had recently signed a Bollywood biopic on his life, is in fact, the absconding criminal Salim Khan.
On 27 February, Salim Wastik was brutally stabbed at his residence by two persons. His throat was slit, and he had multiple deep stab wounds in the attack. He battled for his life for weeks in the GTB Hospital and finally took over a month to recover. UP Police traced his attackers, two brothers named Gulfam and Zeeshan, who were reported as Islamists who wanted to kill Salim for his anti-Islamic views. Both attackers were shot dead in police encounters.
