The matter came to light when the girl complained of stomach pain. After being taken to a doctor, it was revealed that the 11-year-old was being sexually abused by Maulana Riyaz Sheikh.

However, on 25th August, the family of the girl checked the CCTV footage close to Anjum Sayyed's house. In the CCTV footage, the family saw that Anjum and Sahil took the girl on their scooter to the hospital. However, they claimed that they had found the girl unconscious on the road near the bridge, after which they took her to the hospital. On suspicion, the girl's parents have also booked the two.

According to the hospital sources, the victim has sustained multiple injuries which has raised suspicions of a brutal sexual assault or rape.

The preliminary report in the Badlapur sexual abuse found that the two minors were assaulted multiple times over the last 15 days.

In one such protest against Ramgiri Maharaj, several Muslim men along with children are seen raising “Gustakh-e-Nabi ki ek Saza, Sar tan se juda [“There is only one punishment for being disrespectful to Nabi (Prophet Muhammad]”.
