Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and supporters barge into Akashvani Bhawan even as a security guard stops them during protest against CEC Gyanesh Kumar

On 6th October 2026, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, along with other MPs and party workers, forcibly entered the Akashvani Bhawan premises during an INDI bloc march from Delhi’s Parliament Street to the Election Commission headquarters. Rahul Gandhi and other INDI bloc MPs are protesting to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

In the videos related to the incident, Rahul Gandhi can be seen arguing with the brave security guard, who was preventing him and a crowd of Congress supporters from barging into Akashvani Bhawan.

Eventually, Gandhi and his supporters managed to get inside the building.

Reports say that during their march against CEC Gyanesh Kumar over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were briefly detained and released. The Gandhi duo and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge were stopped by the police on Parliament Street near the NITI Aayog office, where they sat on a dharna.

Rahul Gandhi was joined by TMC MPs Mahua Moitra and Abhishek Banerjee.

During the protest earlier on Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi and Abhishek Banerjee had climbed atop a police barricade after security personnel stopped them from proceeding forward.

It was after they were released from brief detention that Rahul Gandhi and other INDI bloc MPs forcibly entered the Akashvani Bhawan premises after police prevented them from reaching the Election Commissioner headquarters.

Interestingly, Rahul Gandhi’s protest comes at a time when Cockroach Janta Party supporters and Leftist ‘activists’ are staging a protest at Jantar Mantar to demand CEC Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation. There seems to be a pattern in Rahul Gandhi’s protest timings. During the CJP protests against then Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in June-July this year, Rahul Gandhi confined his outrage mostly to social media but as the CJP protest reached its peak on 20th July with a Parliament march, Rahul Gandhi staged is parallel protest, in an apparent attempt to hijack the momentum against the Modi government CJP built.

A protest and clout hijacking redux appears to be unfolding in Delhi on 6th October as Rahul Gandhi leads a march to Parliament, barging into government buildings, and effectively stealing spotlight from CJP.

Not only has Rahul Gandhi copied the ‘parliament march’ idea from the CJP but also copied the “Gyanesh, its done bro” tagline, apparently for better appeal among the youth.
