An earring seller has been arrested for allegedly molesting an eight-year-old girl in the Nagpada area of Mumbai on Wednesday, police said

The POCSO court found Nafees Chishti, Naseem alias Tarzan, Salim Chishti, Iqbal Bhati, Sohail Ghani, and Syed Jameen Hussain guilty of gang-raping more than 100 girl students and blackmailing them using their photographs.

The Supreme Court stated in its decision that it has published extensive guidelines about the appropriate implementation of the POCSO Act and the format in which justices ought to compose their decisions.

The accused had intimidated his underage daughter into silence by threatening to kill the other family members.

OpIndia found that the child sexual abuser was promoted as an 'organic farmer' and agriculturist by popular Tamil channel Pasumai Vikatan in February 2021.

The accused has been charged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, POCSO, 2012, and also SC/ST Act. The Hindus meanwhile asked the local administration to take action against the accused after which the latter's illegal property was razed to ground.

Despite acknowledging the heinous nature of the rape and murder of the girl, the Orissa High Court highlighted the circumstantial basis of the case and the absence of premeditation.

Reportedly, the Maulvi even filmed the act and then went on to rape the victim. According to the Police, the ordeal went on for six months.
