On July 20, a BJP gram sabha candidate in West Bengal informed that she was physically assaulted, stripped and paraded naked by workers of the ruling TMC during the panchayat elections.
Brinda Karat said, "We are against the dictatorship displayed by the TMC during the Panchayat elections of Bengal that claimed 60 lives. It is a reality of West Bengal."
Rajdeep Sardesai then tried to blame the BJP by claiming that violence was at peak in the constituency of Nisith Pramanik, BJP leader and the Minister of State for Home Affairs.

The SEC further announced that a fresh poll will be held on Monday, that is, 10th of July 10 from 7 am to 5 pm. According to the announcement, re-polling will be held in 604 booths for the Panchayat elections.
