In the second and final phase of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, held on Tuesday (November 11, 2025), the state witnessed a record 67.14% voter turnout by 5 PM, the highest in Bihar’s electoral history, surpassing the 65.08% turnout recorded in the first phase.
According to the Election Commission, over 3.7 crore voters cast their ballots to decide the fate of 1,302 candidates, including more than half a dozen ministers from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s government. Polling was held peacefully across 45,399 booths, of which 40,073 were in rural areas. A total of 1.75 crore women voters participated, while Hisua (Nawada) recorded the highest number of voters at 3.67 lakh.

Most of the constituencies in this phase were concentrated in districts bordering Nepal, such as West Champaran, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, and Kishanganj, areas known for their significant Muslim population, making this phase crucial for both the NDA and the INDIA bloc. Voter turnout was notably high in these regions: Kishanganj (76.26%), Katihar (75.23%), and Purnia (73.79%).
An Election Commission official said, “All voters standing in line were allowed to cast their vote even after closing time. Over four lakh security personnel ensured a transparent and peaceful polling process.”
Prominent candidates in this phase included Bijendra Prasad Yadav (JDU – Supaul), Premendra Kumar (BJP – Gaya Town), Renu Devi (Bettiah), Niresh Kumar Singh (Chatapur), Leshi Singh (Dhamdaha), Sheela Mandal (Phulparas), and Jama Khan (Chainpur). Constituencies like Lauria, Chanpatia, Raxaul, Triveniganj, Sugauli, and Banmankhi saw as many as 22 candidates contesting each.
Counting of votes will take place on November 14, coinciding with the release of exit polls.
