Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, 28th December, addressed the nation in the 129th episode of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, marking the last episode of the year 2025. In his address, the Prime Minister reflected on India’s key achievements in 2025 and spoke about the challenges, opportunities and development goals that lie ahead in 2026.

Opening his remarks, PM Modi said the year 2026 was just days away and that memories of the past year were still fresh in his mind. He said 2025 had given the country many proud moments that brought Indians together. “From national security to sports fields, from science laboratories to global platforms, India has left a strong mark everywhere,” he said.

‘India will not compromise on security’
Referring to Operation Sindoor, the PM Narendra Modi says, “This year, ‘Operation Sindoor’ became a symbol of pride for every Indian. The world clearly saw that today’s Bharat does not compromise on its security. During ‘Operation Sindoor’, pictures of love and devotion towards Mother India emerged from every corner of the world… This same spirit was also witnessed when ‘Vande Mataram’ completed 150 years…”
Sporting achievements made the nation proud
PM Modi also highlighted India’s achievements in sports, saying the year 2025 was also a memorable year in terms of sports. Our Men’s Cricket team won the ICC Champions’ Trophy. The women’s cricket team won the World Cup for the first time. The daughters of Bharat created history by winning the women’s blind T20 World Cup.
By winning several medals in world championships, para-athletes proved that no obstacle can stop determination. The Prime Minister added that India’s strong performance in the Asia Cup T20, where the tricolour flew high, further boosted national pride.
Big strides in science, space and conservation
Speaking about progress in science and space, PM Modi said India took major leaps in these sectors in 2025. He highlighted that “Shubhanshu Shukla became the first Indian to reach the International Space Station. Several initiatives related to environmental protection and wildlife conservation also marked 2025. The number of cheetahs in Bharat has now crossed 30.”
Kumbh and Ram Temple events impressed the world
PM Modi said 2025 showcased the blend of faith, culture and India’s unique heritage. Referring to the grand Kumbh Mela held earlier this year, he said the scale and organisation of the event amazed the world. “The Prayagraj Mahakumbh at the beginning of the year left people across the globe surprised,” he said. He also mentioned that the flag-hoisting ceremony at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, towards the end of the year, filled every Indian with pride.
PM to join ‘Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue’
During the programme, the Prime Minister said many young people often ask him how they can present their ideas directly to him. He said this curiosity has found an answer through the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue.
PM Modi said the event will be organised on 12th January, National Youth Day-eve of Swami Vivekananda Jayanti: “I will also be participating in the Young Leaders Dialogue. I am really looking forward to it,” he added.
The PM remembered that the last episode of Mann Ki Baat was the 128th edition, aired on 30th November. In that, he mentioned recent achievements in every sector, from space manufacturing to agriculture, among others, and in all those fields, the biggest strength behind the vision of a Viksit Bharat was the dedication of India’s youth.
