An Indian student has gone missing in California, US, and the search to find him entered its fifth day on Saturday, February 14. The student has been identified as 22-year-old Saketh Sreenivasaiah, who hails from Karnataka. He is pursuing a master’s degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. According to the media reports, Saketh was last seen on Monday, 9th February, about a kilometre away from the university campus.

A few days after he went missing, his backpack was discovered near a house close to Tilden Regional Park, which is not very far from the campus. The backpack contained his passport and laptop. After this, a massive search operation was conducted across the city. The rescue teams have been specifically searching around Lake Anza and the Berkeley Hills area.
The Indian Consulate in San Francisco has stated that it is closely following the developments. In a statement, the Indian Consulate stated that they are in touch with Saketh’s family as well as the local authorities.

Saketh completed his Bachelor’s degree from IIT Madras, then moved to the United States for higher education. He studied at Sri Vani Education Centre in Bengaluru during his school years. He is described as being six feet one inch tall, weighing around 160 pounds (around 72 Kgs), with short black hair and brown eyes.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Saketh and five other individuals jointly own a patent for creating a “microchannel cooling system for hyperloop and a method thereof.” Individuals who have worked with Saketh claim that he is intelligent, humble, and loyal. One recommendation mentions his quick wit, while another highlights his innovative approach to solving challenges.
As per a report by The Berkeley Scanner, Saketh Sreenivasaiah was reportedly upset about a relationship. Berkeley police have asked anyone with information about Sreenivasaiah to notify local law enforcement. “We are working with EBRPD to coordinate ongoing search efforts. We are still asking for the community’s help in locating him,” the BPD said.
