Harman Singh Kapoor, Sikh restaurant owner, arrested in London for speaking about self-defence, had been a target of Islamists and Khalistanis earlier

On 14th March (local time), Sikh restaurant owner of Indian origin, Harman Singh Kapoor, was arrested for speaking about self-defence. Kapoor was arrested from his 1-year-old restaurant, Rangrez, in the UK. Hours later, he announced in replies to several posts on X that he was “back”.

In the last week of February 2026, Harman announced his restaurant would be shut down soon. However, recently, he said the restaurant was not closing as he was getting a lot of support from the locals. He has been constantly a target of Islamists and Khalistanis. His restaurant is one of those rare ones that proudly displays that they do not serve Halal meat.

Kapoor, who refused to serve Halal meat at his restaurant, said in a video that he did not believe the MET Police (UK Police) and would do everything in his power to save his family from the Islamists attacking him for not serving Halal. In the video, he showed his Kirpan while talking about self-defence, which allegedly led to his arrest, though the exact reason is still unclear.

Several netizens have argued that he was arrested for not serving Halal meat, a claim Harman did not refute. The Met Police have not released any statement in the matter.

Kapoor, while replying to one of the posts on X, confirmed that he was arrested. He said, “All I did was protect my family, yet I was the one arrested. Instead of protecting us, the police targeted my religion, my Sikh faith and my beliefs. This is deeply troubling.”

Kapoor has repeatedly said that he does not care if his business fails but he would not sell Halal meat. He disclosed that from day one Islamists have been giving him bad reviews for not serving Halal. Kapoor, who calls Muslims inbreds, said in one of his posts on social media, “Proudly, I don’t sell halal, and because of this many individuals from the inbred community are unhappy and posting fake reviews. Rangrez restaurant will not cater to inbreds at the cost of tortured animals. Inbreds are not my customers.”

Who is Harman Singh Kapoor?

Harman Singh Kapoor is a Sikh activist and a restaurant owner from the UK who has Indian roots. He has been a strong anti-Khalistani voice in the UK for which he has been under attack by pro-Khalistani Sikhs not only in the UK but also worldwide. In 2023, his car was shot at and vandalised after he criticised the Khalistan movement.

He has also been vocal against Halal meat which is prohibited in both Hindu and Sikh religions. Furthermore, recently he and his wife spoke about cases in the UK and Australia where non-Muslim girls were being trapped by Islamists into relationships. Kapoor said in a statement that many girls were being “brainwashed by Pakistani and Bangladeshi boys”. He further stated that such girls “lost contact with their families” and added that he has seen several such cases.
