An alarming incident came to light on Wednesday (25th March) in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, when a ward boy named Anees Ahmed tried to rape a female patient inside a restroom in a hospital. The accused was arrested by the police, and a case has been registered against him.
As per reports, the incident happened in Vivekananda Polyclinic and Institute of Medical Sciences, located in the Mahanagar area of Lucknow. The victim’s brother said that she was admitted to the neuro ward of the hospital on 19th March. On the day of the incident, she went to use the restroom located near the ward. The accused Anees Ahmed followed her to the restroom and forcefully entered, locking the door behind him. He assaulted the victim inside the restroom and tried to rape her.
When the victim did not come out of the restroom for some time, her sister went to check on her. On finding the door of the restroom locked on the inside, she raised an alarm. Other hospital staff arrived at the scene. When the door of the restroom was opened, Anees Ahmed was found inside, half-naked. However, he managed to escape from the spot.
Later, a case was filed by the family of the victim at the Mahanagar police station. The accused was arrested by the police through surveillance. The accused denied the allegations against him and told the police that he had gone to the restroom to smoke. The hospital administration fired him with immediate effect.
