In a disturbing incident relating to the controversial Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a doctor was abused and attacked by a man in the Mau district of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday morning (4th June), after he refused to join the party. Dr Harishchandra Jaiswal, posted at the Community Health Centre (CHC) in the Ghosi police station area of the district, was attacked by a man who introduced himself as a member of the CJP.
After the incident, a group of health workers, led by CHC in-charge Dr Pankaj, went to the Ghosi police station and lodged a formal complaint. As per the complaint, Ravi Shankar Yadav, a resident of Kerma Mahrupur village, came to see Dr Harishchandra Jaiswal, a resident of Alawalpur Afgo in the Badesar police station area of Ghazipur district, posted at the NCD clinic of the Ghosi Community Health Centre.
The doctor was seeing patients at the clinic at that time. Ravi Shankar Yadav arrived at around 10 AM, and said that he wanted to get an ECG test done. After the examination was completed, when he was leaving with the report, he said that he was an office bearer of the Cockroach Janta Party, and asked the doctor to join the CJP. Yadav said, “I am an office bearer of Cockroach Janta Party, and we want to throw the govt out. You are also youth, you too should join us.”
To this, the doctor responded by asking whether he came for medical treatment or to do politics. Dr Harishchandra Jaiswal refused to accept his proposal and asked him to leave his chamber so that he could see other patients. Yadav got angered at the doctor using ‘tum’ for him, saying that he is a teacher and he should be respected. He then proceeded to abuse and assault the doctor. He slapped his cheeks, torn his clothes, and vandalised the chamber. He created a ruckus inside the doctor’s chamber and damaged property.
Dr Harishchandra Jaiswal informed the CHC in-charge, Dr Pankaj, about the incident. Subsequently, a complaint was filed at the Ghosi Police Station. Station House Officer (SHO) Ravindranath Rai stated that the matter is being investigated based on the complaint received, and necessary legal action will be taken following the investigation. An FIR has been registered in connection with the incident, and the search for the accused is on.
