Fresh revelations have surfaced in the religious conversion case involving a Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) employee in Maharashtra’s Nashik, with investigators uncovering details that point to sustained religious influence and instruction over an extended period.
According to sources familiar with the probe, one of the accused, Nida Khan, reportedly admitted during questioning that she personally taught the victim how to perform Namaz and regularly took her to her residence for religious guidance.
“Khan told investigators that she had taught the victim how to offer Namaz and had taken her to her house for religious instruction,” a source associated with the investigation was quoted by media as saying.
The accused also identified the location where the religious sessions were conducted.
Victim trained in Islamic practices
Investigators state the victim was gradually introduced to various Islamic religious practices. During interrogation, Khan is said to have acknowledged her role in familiarising the woman with prayer rituals and religious customs.
Police are examining whether these interactions were voluntary in nature or formed part of a broader effort to influence the victim’s faith and lifestyle.
Pressurizing victim to keep fast during Ramzan
The investigation has also brought to light allegations that the victim was subjected to sustained mental pressure regarding religious observances.
According to sources, the woman was encouraged, and at times pressured, to observe fasting during the holy month of Ramadan.
During questioning, Khan reportedly informed investigators that co-accused Danish and Tausif insisted that the victim complete all 30 days of fasting.
“Danish and Tausif wanted her to keep fasts for all thirty days of Ramadan,” a source quoted Khan as telling investigators.
Officials are now probing whether such demands were part of a coordinated attempt to alter the victim’s religious practices and personal beliefs.
Religious gatherings held at victim’s residence
Another aspect under scrutiny is the organisation of Islamic religious programmes at the victim’s home. Investigators claim that Khan conducted religious gatherings and rituals at the residence on multiple occasions.
A source involved in the probe said, “Religious programmes and rituals were conducted at the victim’s house several times, and investigators are examining the circumstances under which they were held.”
Authorities are working to determine the frequency of these events and the role they may have played in the broader allegations of religious influence.
Digital trail under investigation
Electronic evidence has emerged as a crucial component of the case. Investigators have reportedly discovered that the victim received as many as 171 links containing religious content.
Police are analysing the material, along with chat records, messages and other digital communications, to ascertain whether the content was shared merely for religious discussion or as part of a sustained campaign to encourage conversion.
Officials are also examining electronic devices and online interactions to reconstruct the sequence of events and identify the involvement of each accused individual.
Investigation continues
The case has attracted considerable attention due to allegations of coercion, mental harassment and religious pressure in a professional environment. Investigators are currently reviewing witness statements, digital evidence and interrogation records to establish the full extent of the accused persons’ involvement.
While no further details regarding additional charges have been disclosed so far, police have indicated that the investigation remains active and several aspects of the case are still being examined. Authorities are expected to take further action based on the findings emerging from the ongoing probe.
